How to Slay the Sunday Scaries
Weekends as an adult hit different.
To paraphrase a painfully relatable Instagram meme: On Friday nights, you’re too tired to do anything; on Saturdays, you’re stuck doing all of the errands you didn’t have time for during the week; and on Sundays, you spend the whole day feeling annoyed that Monday is right around the corner.
Understandably, this trifecta creates the perfect recipe for a full-blown set of Sunday Scaries to set in—and a Halloween-induced hangover certainly isn’t doing your anxiety any favors. Scary? More like terrifying.
But with the right routine in place, the loom of Monday morning doesn’t have to feel like something to panic about. In fact, treating yourself to some mindful rituals may even make you look forward to easing into the week ahead.
- Boost your mood
If unwinding feels impossible as you check through the miles-long to-do list in your head, we’ve got you. Grande’s Mood Boosting Gummies are packed with Ashwagandha Root Extract, an adaptogenic herb that’s been used for thousands of years in holistic medicine thanks to its stress-busting abilities. It works with your body to help lower its levels of cortisol (aka the hormone responsible for stress), and will leave you feeling relaxed and ready to tackle what’s to come.
- Set the stage with scent
Thanks to the close link between your olfactory system (aka your sense of smell) and the brain, the scent-mind connection is real. Use it to your advantage by filling your space with some zen-inducing fragrance,, like a jasmine-scented candle (which can help you relax), a citrus-spiked diffuser (which will energize your brain), or a lavender-infused pillow spray (which will help you sleep).
- Do a ‘brain dump’
The best way to get stress out of your head is to… literally get it out of your head. Flip open a fresh page in your journal and write down everything on your mind. Make your to-do list for the week, vent about all of the frustrating things on the horizon, recap your weekend—there are no rules or “right ways” to do this, except one: finish your brain dump by writing down three things you’re grateful for, three things you’re proud of, and/or three things you’re looking forward to. This will flip you into a positive mindset so that you’re truly ready to decompress.
- Shut off
Think of your Sunday night power down session as a sort of “choose your own adventure.” In other words, carve out some time to do something that will make you feel good before you head into the week. That can mean lounging on the couch with your favorite romcom and a big ol’ snack bowl, treating yourself to some gentle yoga or meditation, taking a long bath—really, it’s up to you. Just make sure you’re taking a break from your phone (yes, that means social media) to really give your mind a chance to reset and focus on you.
- Hack your morning
When you wake up on Monday morning, you’ll be grateful for every step that Sunday night you took to make the transition as easy as possible. One of the best ways to do that? By stacking your a.m. routine with multitasking products. This will allow you to streamline your getting ready process so that snoozing your alarm once (or twice) won’t totally ruin your day. We love the GrandeBROW 2-In-1 Tinted Brow Gel + Brow Enhancing Serum, which styles and conditions your brows in a single swipe while also promoting fuller-looking brows over time; the GrandeLINER Liquid Eyeliner + Lash Enhancing Serum, which does the same for your lashes; and the GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper Gloss, which plumps and moisturizes your lips while adding the perfect amount of shine. Even if you don’t feel your most put-together when you step into the first meeting of the day, these products will help you fake it.
